Eruption Update
January 2011. Lava flows into the ocean. This was the last ocean entry until December 2011.
 
 
February. Kilauea Volcano summit.
Magma rises in Halemaumau crater.
March 5, 2011. East Rift erupts with fury. Puu Oo implodes.
Lava erupts for 5 days, then disappears.
April-July. Lava fills Puu Oo crater.

August 3. Second implosion of Puu Oo. Lava races downslope  for one day, then slows and stops.

September 21, 2011. East flank eruption of Puu Oo creates a river of lava......
          ......reaching the sea cliff in December
