Lava Sunset Tour with Dierdre and Jen
Category: Travel and Places

Friday Night Lava:

3 ocean entries with at least 40 total lava fingers.

Some a meter wide.

Got within 20 meters.

Could feel the heat when chunks broke off.

Smooth glassy water on the SE side with NW winds.

Thursday 07.02.15

North Winds equals Flat Water on the South Side.

We burned down there in 40 minutes flat.

Hit 32mph for the first time.

Cruised at the flow for an hour.

Three flows, really.

A small one at Ka'ili'ili, we got within 20 meters.

The huge flow at Kamokuna, the youngest,

and the old flow at Lae'apuki,

which we approached within 15 meters.
